Software for scanners, demo now fully functional.

VueScan is a scanning program that works with most high-quality flatbed and film scanners to produce scans that have excellent color fidelity and color balance. VueScan is easy to use, and has advanced features for restoring faded colors, batch scanning and other features used by professional photographers.

Why should you use VueScan?

  • Easy to use - just run VueScan, press Preview, adjust the cropping, then press Scan
  • Accurate colors - uses ICC profiles and IT8 calibration
  • Powerful - dozens of advanced options
  • Faster workflow - can edit one image while the next image is being scanned (most scanner software won't let you work with one image while another is being scanned)
  • Simple to install - installing VueScan changes nothing on your system, installs nothing in your operating system and all other scanner software will continue to function.
  • Award winning - 2002 "Best Utility", Mac Addict Magazine

Fantastic app. Saved me having to shell out for a new scanner just because Canon couldn't be bothered to update their drivers to allow the Lide20 to work on OSX Lion and above.

Two years ago, the new version of Vuescan listed my scanner as supported but after testing it turned out it wasn't (as the dev. conceded). Now it's listed and after multiple reboots, with no other USB devices besides the keyboard and mouse hooked up, it does recognize the scanner, but is still is failing to scan.

Not only is this hanging, it's refusing to force quit so I can't even restart the computer.

Don't know how earlier versions of VS looked but this version is quite Mac-like and a joy to use. Why I thought VS would not work w/ my Canon Lide 80 is beyond me! Now, no more dealing with Canon's software which hogs the CPUs making my G5 ready for take off.

Agree with other comments... not the best looking app... but it does the job perfectly (^^)

One of the ugliest looking apps available on the mac but at least it works, which is a lot more than can be said for the HP software that came with my scanner.

It has a rather un-Maclike GUI but it does work extremely well and lets you use pretty much any scanner with your Mac. Since it uses its own built-in drivers you don't have to worry about whether there are official drivers available for your scanner or OS X version.

Fantastic application that works with nearly every scanner I have encountered so far. It offers several options for enhancing the output and is quite easy to use. However, the GUI could use some polish.
