Unless you're looking for a 100% free tool BetterZip is better.
If not, Zipeg might be a decent alternative.

O.K., very usefull to view before extract. But if I extract some tgz's, the result isn't working as a program against Apple's BOM (perhaps wrong attributes or so ?). For exsample iStumbler.
Because of this I can't use it as a default for all my downloaded programs.

I use this for uncompressing 7zip files and it does the job well. Tried to use it to uncompress zip files that I was able to successfully uncompress using other utilities and had a few problems. I'm not sure if these issues have been fixed in more recent versions - I'll give it another go and report back.

>When I open zipeg, it tells me it "cannot run…from Desktop", and that I should move it to >/Applications. Not very Mac-like, and what do I do if I'm not admin and don't have access to >/Applications?
You can move it to any folder. Problem with running from Desktop is that a lot of users run it from Desktop than Trash it (while program still running) than empty trash and crash....

The Vista/Parallels screenshot is misleading, so I've suggested a new one from the homepage. Comparing both Win&Mac interfaces side by side is pretty interesting, as the subtle differences do demonstrate the conventions of the platforms. If anything the Mac toolbar buttons look PC-like, and the PC buttons look Mac-like, purely from having a different background colour.

Anyway, interface isn't as crucial as function, so I'll give 'er a try.

The interface is okay. It doesn't exactly feel like an Apple Application though, but it's not bad. Just saying "very bad interface" shows us that the commenter has not learned the rules of courtesy, may have a lack of social interaction, possibly is a very lazy person and may not be very friendly in general.
