In addition to Exposé, "Hide Others" (option-command-H) and "Show all" (can be assigned shortcut in keyboard pref pane) reproduce the uncluttering function of this app. It seems this is more for recent Windows switchers who are used to the windows-D command. This is useful in Windows where the desktop becomes the de facto application launcher and recent file storage but less useful in os x, where the dock and spotlight provide cleaner and faster (respectively, if you're the keyboard shortcut junkie type) functionality.
Anyway, even if you don't agree, this app is sort of clunky since it doesn't provide any keyboard shortcuts. using the hide and show commands or setting exposé's show desktop function to a screen corner is more elegant, if not quite the same.
