brh, when it next asks you to upgrade to 3.0, there are instructions in the information about 3.0 that tell you how to fix that problem

supposedly you just delete:
/Library/Application Support/iStat local/iStat menus Updater.app
(might be in your own ~/Library/... if its not at /Library/...)
