Comment and replies on MarcoPolo:
I used to use Locamatic, but I kept on having issues with the pref pane disappearing in System Preferences; that and it kept on changing my location to "Automatic". I switched to MP back in 1.3 and I have to say it works amazingly well. My only request would be for some more extensive documentation.
I thought I had written a reasonable amount of documentation, but then again I already know MarcoPolo fairly well.
What areas are poorly documented? Let me know so I can improve it!
Hi David,
I guess what I'm trying to ask for is a simple PDF explaining the various options in the preferences window. For example, what general effect does the confidence slider have on switching? And what does switch smoothing do? (I know some of this is covered in the tool tips, but a handy reference would be a nice thing to have too) - and I'd really like to know just what the options in the advanced section do.
This is all a suggestion of course - a lot of this stuff came to be fairly quickly through trial and error and simple intuition but for a lot of other people, this may not be so obvious...
Almost all of that is covered in the online manual (MarcoPolo menu -> Help); perhaps I should try to make that more visible.
I'm reading the above comments about people that were having issues about aspects of it being unclear or clumsy. I've only just started using it today, but I was able to set it up for two locations with multiple rules and actions for each with ease.
so far its a great app, suits my needs perfectly of changing settings between work and home and detecting the locations properly.
Hmm, the nameservers for the domain are currently unreachable, (at least for me), so I can't download.
Does anyone have an alternate link ?
Sorry, that's very temporary (my web host is relocating). Please try again in a few hours.
Comment and replies on Newsfire:
I prefer this to NetNewsWire, and I'll put up with all the phoning home and the dev's BS since it's such a great app.
I wish I could use this app, but it apparently has no Bloglines support (if I'm wrong, please correct me and let me know!) which makes it an utter impossibility to use.
Echoing shadowhound, I would use NewsFire if it had Bloglines support similar to NetNewsWire. (I use Blogines is because I have a PC at work.)
Not sure if it's worth the $18. I have my debit card ready, but I'm not sure.
YES, yes, worth every penny...!
Yeah, I bought it, and let me say, I can't live without it now.
I'd like the ability to view password-protected blogs, but otherwise I like it a lot.
I really want to use this app, it's really attractive.
but I can't use just the keyboard to parse through feeds, and why is there no sorting by date --- or even meta info in the post-detail view? I'm going back to shrook, which is free and much better for me at the moment.
I own this app but I still prefer Safari, go figure.
My old laptop doesn't have the extended screen space of some of the newer macbooks, so I love how Newsfire makes things work with a two-pane design, instead of three panes like Vienna, NetNewsWire, etc. I got used to the keyboard control and now I can't go back.

I've been having some trouble with my connections dropping in and out when using Marco Polo. The system for the App is pretty amazing, and something I've been looking for, but I think it's a bit wonky still...
