@lest78: You probably have Adobe CS2 or CS3 installed, Opera is used as the web rendering software in Bridge.

I love this app. I don't watch a ton of tv, which means the few shows I do watch I often end up missing episodes because my mind doesn't operate on a tv schedule the way it used to when tv ruled my life. With TVShows I've gotten back into a bunch of shows I used to like and had stopped watching, without having to worry about conflicts with my shows vs the roommate's shows or not being able to keep to the tv schedule.

If you use an iPhone or an iPod Touch, this is the Reader to go. Just sync to Newsgator online and check your feeds via http://m.newsgator.com. Sweet.

NNW is free now... and wants your data in return. The CTO of the company producing NNW said, on his , that the privacy sensitive stuff can be turned off, but as soon as I launch the new , free version, Keychain asks if I'll allow NNW to use the data it keeps for logging in to some website, unrelated to NNW. Why? That smells a bit like malware. I am not even given the chance to go to the prefs and turn those big brother features off!

New users beware!

NetNewsWire will put a bullet through your whole folder's worth of fresh unread posts if you accidently type some characters. I thought the focus was on my Adium window. and learned it the hard way. Even Google Reader never did something this destructive.

Would implementing a confirmation dialog REALLY kill you Mr. Simmons, before nuking my unread posts?

I think I'm going to transition to another software, or perhaps go back to Google Reader.

The default toolbar button "Mark all as unread" is also a very bad idea, since there is no confirmation or undo.

(As an aside note, the one big reason why I despise Google Reader is that when you resize your browser window, it will change the focus to another post, which is even worse when you set it to auto-check posts as unread to read).

Please bear no mind to my previous comment, I was still fuming from my misadventure. That, and was in rotten mood. I should have waited a while to cool off, and communicate with the developer via the Customer Feedback page (https://www.newsgator.com/feedback.aspx?product=netnewswire) to see if it's an issue which can be dealt with more efficiently.

it's really good it became free, I didn't use it before (I used Mail.app for rss) but NNW is probably RSS reader out there

I think the term "freeware" is misleading, as your data is collected in return:

The app is great BUT the killer feature is the NewsGator Online that sync with the app !!!

The Growl project has hosting issues at the moment.

The dog's boll*cks, the bee's knees, the cream of the crop. So useful it's hardly imaginable to live without. I love it. This + growlcamino = perfection.

Note: example scripts are in the version .7.6 dmg, but not in the 1.1.2 dmg.
These scripts can be useful to monitor a folder, have a notification from Salling Clicker, etc.

Just got Growl along with Shimo, but now I can't get the extras b/c the growl.info site is down -- apparently it's been down a lot the last month or so :(
