It seems that at one time Preview allowed animated GIF viewing, but dropped that feature (annoying). Viewing them in Safari provides no control (annoying). Xee is a great little utility for viewing ani-GIFs in loop or by individual frames. One problem solved; now for...

Xee was my first "find" as a replacement for Irfanview under Windows, and seemed very promising. But... It's very slow for even 2000×3000 JPG files, even slower for raw images, and lastly doesn't seem to consider ICC profiles, so images are shown with inaccurate color. Viewit is my current quick viewer of choice, when not wanting to start up bridge or lightroom.

The Finder is still at version 10.4.7 (even under OS X 10.4.10)

Yes... Kamikazow is absolutely right.
Mac OS X (the operating system) and the Finder are not the same thing.
The latest version of Mac OS X Tiger is indeed 10.4.10, but the current version of the Finder is still 10.4.7.
Just do "About Finder" from the Finder menu and you'll get that information.

Finder? I don't like seeing this listed in the Apps list. I may be an app, but it just seems out of place alongside VLC, Skype, and others.

I agree with the others here that this is excellent SW, giving the iSight greatly expanded functionality. I especially appreciate being able to control brightness, but the fun stuff is a kick, of course. So far version 2 is very stable and elegant on OS X 10.4.10, but the price has jumped a few pennies from that quoted above - but still worth the cost.

Personally, I find this utility (v 1.0.5) does fine for my simple needs - just to quickly resize a batch of pix and nothing else. It does that quite well and pretty quickly. When I want some simple task done I hate wading through "bells n whistles," so I keep trim little apps like this one handy. Given time and positive feedback, this very nice utility will do well.

Simple, small and clean. I use it to batch move or copy files. This is how I think SW should work - easy and fast, not a lot of goofy bloat to complicate a simple task. This utility is worth having handy on your system.

This is a really nice utility that works through a pref pane to customize the startup screen and associated details and much more. It's worked very well on OS X 10.4.9 and now 10.4.10 with no nasty deformities or crashes. And for the price you get a lot of configurability. Yes, there are some freebies out there that can do these customizations, but not all in one package in one location - well worth a ten-spot.

I love this app and use it to change my log on screen about as often as my wallpaper

I've tried the other "trashers," and they seem fine, but this one works very well for me and it's free. It's also inconspicuous, with a tidy drag-n-drop window - no flash or hype. It does not always get those pesky plists tucked away in strange places, though, but the same can be said of the other utilities like it. It's never tossed anything essential to my system or crashed, and leaves a nice folder in the Trash for review before flushing (my Trash icon & sound are the notorious toilet set snicker). Works fine on OS X 10.4.10. Give it a try.

I haven't tried the others but I find this one very handy - it fits in my dock next to the 'other' trash and I don't have to 'start an app' just to 'delete an app'. Great timesaver, and you can't beat the price!
