Comment and replies on Vim:
very handy when working with files in terminal, especially when it can be with sudo. It's not very easy to learn though
Comment and replies on PixelStick:
Very nice little app for web development and other graphic create/modification.
If you need a lot more features you'll want to check out Free Ruler, but I prefer PixelStick for almore everything.
Very nice. The scaling feature for measuring miles in Google Maps, etc. is fun - don't know how useful it is, but it's a neat idea. The rest is very compact and does just what it's supposed to. The fact that it can be always on top is excellent.
Comment and replies on WakeUp:
Nice little utility. Clean and simple.
Nice, but the similar app WakeOnLan additionally offers automatic detection of other computers on the network, saving you from manually entering MAC addresses.
Comment and replies on VirtueDesktops:
I tried this for a week since it seemed really slick, but I got frustrated with how it works. Somethings should be intuitive (e.g. adding/renaming desktops) but either aren't or just don't work.
Happily returned to Desktop Manager, which is stable, works excellent, and has the menubar pager (I love that).
Very nice. Nice and intuitive.
I also find that the alternstive desktop manager has the habit of deleting windows when switching back to one desktop.
This instability means that i'll keep with virtuedesktops for now :)
This is like Spaces in Tiger. They aren't continuing development on this app probally because when Leopard comes out, Spaces will replace this app. Very cool app though!
Like the app-binding to specific desktop. Hate that those pref's seem to be lost half the time it launches. Which is often, as it crashes a lot. The launchd log watching kluge (see Lingon) doesn't work for me, either. Switching to DesktopManager for now.
Very Unstable.
Switching back to Desktop Manager
I'm still crying inside from the developer discontinuing development of this app. Even with Spaces, there's a lot of Macs out there left running Tiger or Panther, which would benefit greatly from VirtueDesktops.
It's still usable, and the advantage over Desktop Manager is that it's UB.

Version 0.5.4r1
Where does the latest version come from? Is it still Tony developing it? The website says "discontinued", and the latest version I know is beta2, the current is beta4. Who made beta4??
Looks like someone from the open source community picked it up -- maybe we found a new project maintainer?
Wow, interesting. Is there a changelog for this release?
Somehow I don't trust an anonymous author .. I have it installed, but I'll watch out. Am I paranoid?
I wouldn't say you are. It's a very suspicious situation atm I would say.
I think here's the changelog for the Beta4. It also reveals who the submitter of the beta fixes are.

This is traditionally a command=line application, so, yes, you would use it within the terminal, but, no, it definitely is not part of it. As a decent UNIX, OS X comes with VIM installed, so that's why it's already there. OS X also comes with other classics like emacs, perl, and a nice collection of the GNU tools (e.g. sed, awk, grep, etc.).
