my favorite of these kinds of apps. awesome stuff
some things i long for though:
- less memory usage after browsing files,
- and because of that memory issue the possibility to turn off previews when clicking on entries,
- some more flexibility as far as size is concerned for the icon previews (in portrait view mode). think iPhoto. When scrolling with preview turned on, it's also very slow, i think this could need some work.
- the ability to choose the quicknotes format (.txt would be nice).
- a function to ignore certain filetypes from importing. example: temporary download files (you know, these .part files). this would be more convenient for people who set their download folders to ones that are watched for automatic import.
thanks for this software
Comment and replies on Wave Editor:
I haven't felt this good about an audio software purchase since Digital Performer. Wave Editor is THE audio mastering and editing program for the Mac platform. It's beautiful to look at, highly customizable, well designed and intuitive. It's also visionary in that it allows you to layer edits and effects in a visual manner, removing or copying with a keystroke or mouse click. I have also been impressed with their customer and software support.
Wave Editor makes working with audio a joy and I haven't missed drudging through Peak one bit.
This is some amazing stuff; one hour into getting a license, I'm already finishing a job for a client. I can't wait for the user forum, I hope that gets online at some point. The documentation alone is worth $250. The help desk, the converter, the DDP --wow.
We've completely revamped our pricing. Wave Editor is now $79. This is not a stripped-down version. It is the full application. Enjoy!
$79 for this app is a rob. That is a really generous price for such a beautifully competent application.
It means, look nowhere else.
Comment and replies on Peak:
Stopped using Peak after years of hostile customer service, constant upgrade emails and having critical comments deleted from their forums. And I was a customer two times over! Nice way to treat someone who spends $400+ on your product.
I switched over to Wave Editor by Audiofile Engineering and couldn't be happier.
drumnjazz - I am with you - just trashed all my BIAS apps…
They treat and punish customers like criminals and call this company policy:
"Dear Customer - of course we will take your money (lots of money)- but in our eyes you are potential criminal and you first have to proof the opposite…"
NO THANKS!
There are other great software companies and developers with a different policy and I'll be glad to give them my money!
Comment and replies on Lineform:
Filled a giant Illustrator shaped hole on my Macbook. Bought it within days of using it.
I tried out Vector Designer (got it with the MacHeist Bundle). Very similar to Lineform, but LineForm is a little more polished. Probably cos it's been around a little longer. Things like dragging images from the Media Inspector to the Image Fill box and adding/editing round corners on a box.
Love it!!
Lineform is Macupdate's Promo deal of the day (01/05/08). 38% off...

I really enjoy this app... I picked it up quickly, and have made some beautiful graphics with it. Why use Illustrator when this does the job, even better?
I love this app, but I get the feeling it has somehow gotten into maintenance mode, because there haven't been any major improvements or developments for quite a time now. I really hope Lineform will gain a few more features with the next update.
It is quite a complete application already, but this could be the total Illustrator killer if the developer would put a bit more energy into adding useful features.
Comment and replies on Digital Performer:
Agreed that the UI could use some work. Still it's the most musician-friendly DAW around. I won't use anything else.
Since switching to Ableton Live, I've realized how much of a processor pig DP was. Live is way more efficient and the UI is dead simple to use. Give it try if you haven't already. DP was completely inhibiting my desire to make music because of how slow it was.
Digital Performer is up on version 6. This entry should be updated appropriately.
Comment and replies on FlickrExport:
$20 is a bit much. But this is a super solid add on to iPhoto. Saves tons of time.
It's an excellent plug-in but a tad expensive.
However I'm pretty sure I'll buy it.

I had been using Circus Ponies NoteBook for years when I made the switch. I transferred over 5GB of data from NoteBook's painfully slow file into Together. It took a long time but it was well worth it. Together is a very well written application with a top notch user interface and the developer is quick to respond to bugs and questions. Highly recommended.
