Comment and replies on Skitch:
I don't think it sucks at all. It's a great application and will be available imminently.
loving it.
i use it everyday, a lot, and my life is much easier now. it does everything i need, it does it beautifully and it's a pleasure to use.
It's now on "invite-only" beta!
So now, go get your invite and enjoy!
Are there any information on if and if so, how much, this will cost?
First off, I don't think Skitch is going to be a "free" program when it's released to the general public. So I Use This's License entry is probably not correct.
I've been using this program for just under 12 hours now. It's pretty dang useful, but I don't know if it lives up to the hype it's been getting.
It is Beta, and for that, I have to give it some slack. However, I have had to use Photoshop Elements to do a few things that I thought it should be able to do. I have also reported a couple of bugs or missing features.
Those few problems aside, it is a very useful program. It takes a fair amount of memory which isn't great for a program that you might want to keep running all the time. So far, it doesn't appear to have any memory leaks so it doesn't hurt to keep it running constantly.
It certainly takes advantage of Core Image with all the animations it does when using it. It also has lots of tooltips to help you with using the program.
Overall, it's a great tool and quite useful and will hopefully be even more useful when it comes out of beta.
Skitch is just great. I have my money ready.
I'm absolutely in love with this app so far. Incredibly well integrated and thought out.
A great app for people frequently posting images to forums and the like. I have to confess though, I still can't wrap my head around the odd UI.
A suggestion I sent into them was to include Facebook and Photobucket account integration in addition to flickr. Hopefully Plasq will consider that.
Unfortunately, this won't replace what I do now. I post PNGs when I do screen captures, and always optimize them with OptiPNG or pngcrush before uploading. Optimizing PNGs saves about 5-50% of the file sizes, and can remove the gamma tags that cause matching problems.
Incidentally, OptiPNG and pngcrush are command-line tools. I access them currently by using OnMyCommand to make contextual menu entries for them. So now, I take my PNGs, right-click on them, and choose a menu entry to optimize. I probably could/should automate it further with Automator or Watch Folders or something.
I think the concept is cool but i cant get past the UI. It's absolutely shocking.

Really enjoying it! Me thinks the web integration rocks. Throw images everywhere in a snap!
