Comment and replies on ToolPlayer:
This looks really great. I'll have to have a play around and see how easy it is to play my existing iTunes Music folder.
I like it, but it didn't react well to non-English characters in filenames. I kept getting "File not found" errors, but it played perfectly when I renamed it. Metadata wasn't read correctly in the display window, either.
Cool UI - reminiscent both of the utility window UI Apple's using in apps like iPhoto and Motion, and Disco at the same time. I'm betting this would be a perfect iTunes substitute for low-resource machines like my 640 MB iBook...
new media player with a great UI? I'll try it!
Fabulous player with so much room to be even better! Try it out, you will not be disappointed!
Fantastic start for a very promising application! (And let's not forget that this is version 0.1.)
It's very stable and does exactly what's supposed to do. And the interface is just beautiful!
I really like it.
Allow mw just one more comment...
I wish it could read Musepack and Monkey Audio files. When it will, I will get rid fo Cog.
Don't get me wrong... I like Cog. But the latest developement of Cog happened more than one year ago.
And ToolPlayer's interface is much nicer.
It truly looks great and has a promissing future. I however has problems with sound quality. For example if I adjust ever so much on the eqalizer I get disorted sound. On the effects side reverb and echo sounds fine but pitch and speed gets hevily disorted.
What I'd like to see in future releases:
* Media Library....but I'll settle with a playlist to start :P
* Option to not force ToolPlayer on top--it gets kind of annoying, being that I'm on a single laptop display--would be nice to have it "sent to back" when clicking on a window behind it
* IPod integration (obviously)
does this play shorten (.shn) files? if so, that would be amazing.
0.2 beta 1 is available, and there is a link for future development releases:
http://www.alenofx.netsons.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2
Version 0.2 supports Musepack and Monkey's Audio files.
Just what I was waiting for!
does it play shorten files, anyone?
@haleakalari:
You may try by yourself with Shorten files. Just download ToolPlayer and install it. (It's free!)
Then you'll see (or hear...) if it is able to play those files.
don't work on leopard!!!
Leopard version available now.
great player :D
The "regular" download link leads to the Tiger version.
The download of the Leopard build must be done from the support forum.
great app. low memory footprint, excelent flac playback, the only thing missing is last.fm support.
