There are other good CD/DVD burning programs for Mac OS X, but compared to the sheer simplicity of SimplyBurns, I have NEVER been satisfied with anything else.

Since upgrading to 10.5 a few months ago, today sees me needing to copy a disc for the first time. I know I could use Disk Utility, but I thought I'd see what else there was. I don't need Toast and I've tried Burn and Disco in the past. There had to be something better, and for free. This is it.

Actually, this proved to be flaky after serious use

This piece of software is a gem... fast and simple... There is only one feature that Quicksilver has that is sorely lacking here: the ability to assign arbitary shortcuts to an application (very often I can't even remember the name of the application I want to run... the ability to create custom “tagged” names for applications would make this a killer app...).

I'm with ig0774. Tagging would be one improvement to make this THE killer app.
Also, the ability to open Finder.app through Namely (or am I just to stupid?)

But at the moment it does what it should do, open apps, at an unbelievable speed and with unbeatable simplicity. Love it.

I don't see why one should not quite as simply use quicksilver instead, which does the same thing but then so much more...

@andrehuf: In my experience, I prefer Namely over Quicksilver simply because I don't use most of Quicksilver's features. Yes, they come in handy once you learn them, but more often than not I only used the program as a launcher. It makes more sense for me to not have all the bells and whistles when all I need is to open a program :)

I love this app. It's a gem. I launch almost all of my Applications with it.

Personally I made it a NSUIElement - so it won't have a menubar and it doesn't appear in the dock. So the only way to access it is the keyboard shortcut. Fine by me :)

Simple and to the point—but that's just why I love it. Other tools may make more feature-laden outlines, but in the end, this is the tool I use.

Brilliantly simple little application that makes task-list-building a breeze. The keyboard shortcuts are perfect, it's tiny, and best of all it's free. One of my favourite and most frequently-used applications.

Love it! It is very simple to use, really. I use it mainly as my GTD app (with context=lists, and projects; tasks colour-coded). It is just great. Recommended as your primary outline application (dropped OOutliner completely).

This application is just so perfect for what I've always wanted to be able to do with PDF eTexts, comment on them as I read. Brillant.

tigerhawk: To highlight text in a column, use the square select tool. You can draw a box around the text you want and it will copy it to the notes field.

I often export these notes to a RTF file as a summary of key points.

This application is brilliant. It has totally replaced Preview as my PDF viewer.

Only problem I have encounter is complications with the software update function.

Skim is much better than preview for viewing scientific PDFs. However, the program lacks proper support for selecting text in columns. Also, the highlight and underline tools need to be improved because often annotated text is hard to distinguish. The same goes for notes, whose appearance could be improved to resemble actual sticky notes. Adobe Acrobat does a better job of annotation but is a slower, bloated piece of software.

All of those complaining about the column issue, complain to apple, it is a bug in PDFKit and is, therefore, in every app that uses it (Skim, Preview, etc).

This is why it is not there in Acrobat, as it uses its own PDF rendering engine.

Actually, PDFKit does have the ability to highlight column wise, though technically its via the box shape. In skim (or preview), press 'alt' then click and drag to highlight text in a column. Spread the word!
