Evernote is pretty cool. Its an on-line Journler, Together, etc. The text recognition for photos taken with my iPhone is pretty impressive.

Vaporware? no it isn't. Using it fine here ;)
In an interview i read that pdf is on the to do list.

This is really good stuff. First i used Devonthink pro, then switched to Together (both are nice), but now with this having a Mac client and online sync it's first choice for me hands down.

Ok, I've been vocal about my disdain for beta apps on iusethis.com... but I have 10 invites to Evernote right now and for those that want one send me an email to rbrimhall at gmail dot com.

I am using it on Mac and PC - the sync works fine. Unlike Journler you can't add attachment to notes which would be a feature I would use for sure.

It is free with limited online space - they will surely have paying models once I have put loads of data online.

It is nearly stable - I had only on crash on PC - not mac (eh eh).

I like the Outlook plugin that allows saving emails as notes.

Overall a very nice application that I use in // to Journler but for other type of information,

Latest mac versions routinely die on opening. At first seemed very promising. Not reliable now. Even the crash reporting dies....

Looks really cool, until i realized you HAD to create an account to use the desktop software.. im assuming the recognition software is serverside, ... too big brotherish for me. Is that why its free?

I don't think the program itself is better than Yojimbo or Together(I own both).
But I'm using this instead of others because
1) I can get to my stuff from anywhere because it sync to web server.
2) text recognition

I completely agree. I found the UI confusing and counter intuitive. Hopefully the developer will rethink how and what Mac users are used to seeing (UI consistency across apps as well as through out individual apps). MacZot has it for a good price today and tomorrow but I can't see spending even the Zot price on an organizer thats hard and confusing to use.

Is this company even in business anymore? I've sent 3 email support requests over the last couple weeks and never hear back from them.

I have used this because it had the best features, but it stopped saving my recipes shortly after I registered it and when I contacted the developer, they said the new version would be out very soon. This was a year and a half ago and I haven't seen another product that works and I'm really bummed that I spent the money on this app when it is worthless without being able to save recipes. Now I am hunting an app to take its place. COokbook looks to be good but I have no idea when it will be out. I also need to migrate my info form Connoisseur somehow. Ideas are appreciated!

Looks like Connoisseur has new life. Version 1.3 was just released and a new developer has taken it over:

It would be a good option for viewing may old Art Explosion clip art collection (included viewer is OS 8-9 compatible), however certain clip art folders cause it to quit unexpectedly. That's too bad because it really is a nice program.

I tested a bunch of these type apps and decided on iRatchet. It just seemed the most customizable and the workflow really made sense to me. I'm not sure where the price comes from, it's actually $39.99. This software is also marketed by macXware.com as MacFreelance. I bought directly from PGS because I like supporting developers directly, but that's just me.

A very nice program.

BTW, the keywords for this app suck. They need to include: time, billing, invoice, etc.

Okay, so what is this app supposed to do? Looks like the admin forgot to actually tell us what CuteClips does.

@ jailerjoe:
What CuteClips does is very simple: it gives you multiple clipboards.
It keeps a memory of the last items you have copied and allows you to paste any one of them with a simple click of your mouse.

CuteClips is a multiple clipboard manager. It has a simple, easy to use interface that allows quick access to stored clippings. Pasting as plain text is an option, so is pasting of multiple clippings with ease.

That's a much better description. But version 3 is still in beta with new features popping up. So far I'm impressed with it. I've tried other similar apps, including the most popular iClip and I really do prefer the to-the-point-with-ease design of CuteClips.

CuteClips is a clipboard manager - it can keep multiple entries for later use. That is, you don't have to copy a single piece of text to the (standard) clipboard, immediately paste it, and start over again with the next piece of text.
Instead, just copy multiple pieces to CuteClip's own clipboard and paste them later, when you need them.

Sounds simple, but this is incredibly handy when working with texts, e.g. at the terminal: just store directory paths or commands with CuteClips and have them available again at once without having to re-enter them. Just let CuteClip pop up with a key shortcut, chose the piece of text you need, and it will be inserted as soon as you press "Enter".

I've tried other products on Mac OS but CuteClips seems to be the only one which can keep up with KDE's "Klipper".

They just released the 7.0.1 update yesterday, the 22nd.

avatar

by
fishbert, 2007-08-29

No, no... I had submitted 7.0 on the 19th (or around then), but it didn't give me an option to revise the release date. Just stuck 8/19 in there.
I found out later that you could edit the date after the fact, so it's fixed now (if you were to look at the previous versions).

wicked program. I mainly use this to create remouthed parodies. I convert a DVD like Harry Potter in HandBreak, import it into iMove '08 to cut the scenes I want and insert transition, and then import it into GarageBand to put effects and voice in. Perfect for what I need. Completely different to iMovie HD ('05.) Takes some getting used to. However, is it just me, or can't you record audio like you used to be able to do?
