Comment and replies on Remote Buddy:
I bought this without trialling when it was on mupromo, based on the reviews. I haven't tried Mira, but I believe Sofa Control has a more elegant interface despite having fewer features.
That is, Remote Buddy has a nice modern GUI, but the interface is confusing. I feel like I need to drink 1L of coffee every time I launch it. Perhaps an easy-setup wizard would help.
Maybe ex-Windows switchers or Germans are used to having complex software.
I am only using it from a Bluetooth phone, but the .hid file provided doesn't let me assign all of my phone's buttons (it's a Sony-Ericsson) so I am limited in the number of functions I can assign.
@ jasonology:
Using Remote Buddy with its sensible defaults: zero clicks.
Exchanging the action mapped to a button: one click and selecting the new action of your choice from the popup
Configuring the menu: one drag and drop action per menu item
Flexibility: endless
I'm sorry, but I don't see how this'd be overly complex or how it could further be streamlined below one click or drag and drop operation.
If you have an idea on how to streamline this further, please drop me a mail (I only check by here more or less randomly). I'm always open to new approaches and ideas.
Best regards,
Felix Schwarz

Unfortunately this appears to be abandonware.
Comment and replies on LoginWindow Manager:
This utility does everything it claims to, and Apple, shame on you, all this should have been built-in to OS X anyway.
Comment and replies on Growl:
I'd like to have more control over how long the notifications stay on your screen, and whether they require a click or just a mouseover to dismiss them.

Simply fantastic, allows me to continue working and monitor my conversations with just a glance. Fine product, only needs to have access to more applications.
Couldn't live without it. I have nearly every add-on imaginable for my programs. Now if only somebody would make an OmniWeb Growl plugin...
Love it, but I need real Mail.app support - and not just a hack that works for some and not for others. One of the main draws for this application for me was mail notification, and without it, I just don't get the main function from Growl that I need.
Here's to hoping that it gets working soon.
Oh - and it doesn't help that the site is down. ___
All links to Growl are returning 404's?
The Growl project has hosting issues at the moment.
The dog's boll*cks, the bee's knees, the cream of the crop. So useful it's hardly imaginable to live without. I love it. This + growlcamino = perfection.
Note: example scripts are in the version .7.6 dmg, but not in the 1.1.2 dmg.
These scripts can be useful to monitor a folder, have a notification from Salling Clicker, etc.
Just got Growl along with Shimo, but now I can't get the extras b/c the growl.info site is down -- apparently it's been down a lot the last month or so :(
Looks gorgeous with the iPhonesque theme.

I loved Growl but finally had to nuke it a few days ago. It worked great in Tiger but was nothing but a pain in the butt with Leopard. Growlmail never working was the nail in the coffin as this was my favorite use of Growl.
Is there a way to lower the volume of iTunes while playing the sound for a notification?
Minuteur does that, and it's quite useful. :)
Does someone know how to log notifications?
I'd like to log status changes from adium, like this adium plugin seems to be doing.
FYI: Growl support is coming to Awaken 5. Screenshot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/embraceware/2820197110/
