Doesn't seem to work on Leopard: "no valid title found"
What a shame :(
Great app. Amazing they don't charge for it.
The latest version seems to create grainy, blocked, and choppy DVD rips in both .mp4 and .avi format (and maybe other formats as well, I haven't tried). I've tried it on multiple Macs, with multiple presets and custom settings, and with multiple DVDs. The results are the same - disappointing.
What's more disappointing is the response that I got from the moderators of the HandBrake forum. The response that I received from moderator "nightstrm" and project administrator "jbrjake" was immature and petty. Looking at their responses to other new users asking genuine questions makes it obvious that my treatment was anything but out of the ordinary. They consistently badger and demean friendly people who are there to ask genuine questions. Pathetic.
I think HandBrake was a quality application, but the issues that I and other users are having with it are very bothersome. To top it all off, I have a hard time supporting a project (as a user and bug reporter which I do for many apps) when the people working on the project and supporting the user's forums are such... douchebags.
There are better options that HandBrake out there. I'd suggest you use them.
I'm not very satisfied with Handbrake. Compared to AutoGK on Windows, it lacks a lot of important features like external subtitles instead of hardcoded subtitles.
Plus it's very unstable, when I try to convert a DVD to something other than FFMPEG avi, it crashes, takes hours, or the resulting file is messed up and not usable.

I use this because I get it free (plus $20 shipping) from my work. I will be getting the "free" version of 2008 whin it comes out, but I hav already started taking a liking to the iWork and will probably be purchasing it as well... and using it more.
Comment and replies on Firefox:
I love using Firefox at work on Windows machines, but it's not used as often on my macs. I tend to run Camino and Flock much more frequently. My wife swears by it though...

is there an easy way to enable disabled addons on fx3?
I would use Firefox on my Mac IF it was as fast or faster than Safari. Unfortunately it isn't and takes a long time to start up.
To enable "disabled" plugins in Minefield (Firefox 3.0b), install a the plugin "Nightly Tester Tools." Afterwards, go to your AddOn tab and click on Extensions, then click on the "Make all compatible" button on the bottom right-hand corner. Also, click on the Preferences button on the Nightly Tester Tool addon, then select "Add-ons", then disable add-on compatibility checking. Restart Firefox and enjoy.

Just installed the minefield pre-release. The interface is VERY slick, and they were nice enough to name the app something other than Firefox (MineField) so that you can just close it and open up your old version if needed. So you aren't locked into the upgrade to the beta
I can't resist posting a tips about this superior Firefox skin (working fine in Firefox 3.0b5+):

Firefox is slower than Camino. Use Camino is it 10 times faster than firefox and doesn't take long time starting up.
Enjoy!!
Firefox is amazing. Safari is cool, but the power of Add-ons gives Firefox the edge over all other browsers. Plus, you can use it on almost any OS. Very useful when running 3.
Firefox is in fact my favourite browser because of the add-ons, but it crashes all the time. So for the most part use Safari and Opera.
Only thing keeping me away from using this as my main browser, is the ages it takes to start the app.
+1 on that grapple theme, works with the new release candidate also!
Great for web development and gimmicks, but for day-to-day browsing Safari is faster and integrates with the Apple Keychain.

Fantastic free app for converting ripped DVD's for running in quicktime/appleTV. However, since purchasing VisualHub, I find myself using Handbrake less and less on my MBP (for .mkv and .avi files mainly), although it still gets used plenty on my iMac (DVD backup machine).
