I don't see .wmv support on the list. So this won't interfere with Flip4Mac then, right?

@oldsystem: No, Perian will not interfere with Flip4Mac's WMV Player

I just used AppDelete to remove AppCleaner from my computer.

AppDelete suddenly held up the tip jar after a few uses, and announced to me that it has turned shareware for this latest version. I don't have anything against the principles of paid software. I DO however find the way in which the software communicated this information rude and distasteful. The information should have been shown when I was about to update the software, not when I'm about to use it.

Hi from Reggie the Developer for AppDelete! :-)

I want to thank all of you for your posts and I do apologize for any confusion regarding the "free" label for AppDelete 2.0. I am currently waiting for this site to update the listed info and I expect it will be done soon. As for the switch over to AppDelete 2.0 again I do apologize for any confusion as it was not meant to be misleading in any way. It's just simply the old version is being told a new one is available. You can read more about this on my site by clicking the Homepage link above, and please do email me from my site for any further questions. Also there is now a 2.0.1 update available for download. Thank you for you interest and for using AppDelete! :-)

Sincerely,

Reggie Ashworth

I've used Alarm Clock 2 for a year (it was reliable), Aurora for almost a year (it was easier to use), and now Awaken for 10 minutes, and I'm convinced this one is the best! Awaken combines the features I wanted, but were divided among the other 2 alarm programs, into one easy to use and attractive interface.

I've read other comments and I agree that there is room for refining, but at least the dev is here listening, commenting and demonstrating that this is a community driven application.

The bottom line:
Time is money, so your first investment should be in a good alarm clock. And I'm confident that I've made an informed decision that this is the one worth buying.

Awaken 4.1 was in the development and due to all of the new features coming its going to be released as Awaken 5. As with all updates to Awaken it'll be a free update. Can it turn on your mac while it's powered-off? Aurora could do such thing, I thought Awaken could too =S Switching back to Aurora for the time being...

@camifran - we're working on getting Awaken 5 ready in September. It will allow you to power off your Mac and have Awaken power it back on. This is just one of many features coming in Awaken 5 (free update to Awaken 4 users).

Awaken is great, and obviously the developer listens to his users. I had a go through with all the alarm clock apps for mac when i got my new imac, and out of all of them awaken was the easiest to use. But why does it take up ~75 megs of ram when the program (the actual program + the menubar daemon) is open? I've got four gigs, so it's not that big of a deal, but it seems like a little much. Oh well.

I would like to be able to remap the function keys to the apple remote... so say that "menu" would stop the alarm, and play would use the snooze timer... i'm always disoriented when i wake up and always end up hitting the play button more than once, which shuts off the alarm, which means sometimes i don't get up...

Hi Paperdigits - regarding the RAM usage, it should remain around 22-25MB with Awaken 4. Could you tell me if you quit Awaken and relaunch it - does it start at 75MB?

Regarding remote button mapping - this is coming in Awaken 5 :)

jerry - it is indeed at 24 megs of ram upon opening it. if it gets back to 75, i will try and document what is going on and email.

button mapping -- awesome. i can't wait. :P

@paperdigits - we just launched version 4.0.19. It addresses any memory issues you were having. Thanks for the feedback which lead to the fix for everyone. We're back to coding Awaken 5 now.

I really like your application and like to know:
1) there'll be a localizated version, in Italian ? When ?

2) i just want to setup an alarm to wake up my mac, no sound, no task, nothing ... only wake up, seems a missing function, isn't it ?
after wake up i'd like to leave mac turn on for example 30 minutes and then let awaken puts my mac to sleep again, how to do ?

3) i just want Awaken to wake up my mac and not show Awaken (it should be run only in background), is it possible ?

4) when add a musical alarm (itunes song) i'd like Awaken simply sing it without execute itunes on the screen, or at least i need a functionality to exit from itunes when alarm is finished, is it possible ?

5) one more, i want to play a alarm (itunes song) for 1 minute and then after 30 minutes make my mac to sleep, seems impossible to setup.

I've setup in preferences of my mac to sleep after 30 minutes but seems that Awaken interfere with it, how to solve that? Any chance, as said for Awaken to overwrite system preferences and sleep mac after xxx time after alarm ?

6) when the new version will be avaible ? i've read in september, when ?

thanks and sorry for this email questions attack :)

@fa_ce - to answer your questions. #1: Yes, there will be many languages coming with Awaken 5 including Italian. #6: We're planning to have a feature complete beta of Awaken 5 available by the end of this month. Regarding your support questions please email our support staff at support@embraceware.com. They're very responsive. I have no way of emailing you as your iusethisprofile contains no contact information. Cheers.

Jerry:

It has been 5 business days since my email to Embraceware for support on November 11. Other than the automated reply thanking me for my message, I have not received any response. Your website states that you respond to email support within 48 hrs.

On November 14, I sent a follow-up email regarding my case (#608) asking when I can expect a response. This time, I did not even get an automated reply.

This is a BIG disappointment. Especially since I chose to purchase Awaken over Aurora because I was impressed by your quick response to my questions during my decision making process.

I don't know what else to say except that it almost feels like an insult to have my email for support totally ignored. Kinda makes me lose enthusiasm for your product.
