The headphone icon doesn't appear on the menu bar after installation completes. I'm using a Powerbook 15", Leopard beta. I have no idea how to make this work. Would appreciate any help.

ishaq - it probably has everything to do with the Leopard beta. I doubt anyone will be able to provide any advice beyond using 10.4.10 until Leopard's official release, when software will be fully tested and refined for the new OS. There's a lot of new stuff under Leopard's hood, and just about any part of it could be causing some fatal conflict.

Doesn't allow to choose between output to the headphones or built-in speakers: that is still done by the system automatically, when the jack is plugged in the headphones plug.

Yes, indeed a great utility. I am using it all the time with my usb headset. Unfortunately, I am having a problem when using i.e. RealPlayer and plugging in the headphones. Somehow I have to restart the application in order to reroute the sound stream to the headset. But I think this is specific for some applications which do not follow the "default" way of sound output.
