Comment and replies on Fluid:
Mozilla is working on something very similar, called Prism (just google "mozilla labs prism"). I use it for Facebook all the time... and if I know Mozilla, it'll stay freeware.
Nice app. It would be even better it if supported Camino's embedded view. I like to use Safari 3.x for daily browsing because of speed but for some sites (i.e. Googe Notebook) I have to use camino because of some compatibility issues.
From Fluid Developer: Hi all, thanks for trying fluid!
@sjaq try v0.4, the issue with ports should be fixed. please let me know if its not.
@themacguiy also check out v0.4 and let me know if its still not working for you. this should work.
@el_cravito that's correct, the free beta expires in March... I haven't decided yet how to move forward beyond that... not sure if it will be for free or fee... feedback welcome. :0]
@avocade try v0.4, this url: "https://mail.google.com:443/" will work now. please let me know if it doesnt work for you.
peace.
it would be nice if this kept the cookies seperate to safari and to other fluid SSBs as any websites open in fluid are vulnerable to XSS attacks from websites open in safari. hopefully it will do that before coming out of beta, otherwise quite promising.
also, would be nice if I could somehow use it with 1Password - having just created a SSB for a webapp I have no idea what the password is without 1Password
Yeah, this seems pretty much pointless if its uses the same cookie store as Safari.
Requires Leopard.
On 10.4.10, 0.4 launches then immediatly quits... :(
Maybe I'm just doping out here, but I can't figure out how to get things like Yahoo Mail to show up with the number of unread messages badge like you have in the picture. Is there something required other than just creating an SSB for Yahoo Mail?
Maybe this should have been obvious, but I found that the badges would not show up unless I chose one of the images from the facebook page. Doesn't work if you use the favicon.
awesome app. too bad it just ate up my processor after 3 running apps.
This little app is shaping up to be pretty impressive.
just come back to this app after noting that 1Password is going to support it and the current feature list is really impressive. wow! lot's has happened since I last commented
Developer works like a madman: Fluid updates pop-up on a regular basis. He seems really committed, and currently works on it for free. Apple themselves believe in Site Specific Browsers since they have announced a related feature for the next version of Safari in OS X 10.6. Remarkable work, this is.
I like Fluid a lot, but sometimes it has a little trouble. Its also unfortunate that it seems not to support Safari plugins, so I can't see Silverlight content in SSBs (for example, I was trying to make a Netflix one). Also: 1000!
Comment and replies on MainMenu:
I've been using this application since at least 10.2. I've tried Onyx and a couple of other system maintenance tools and come back to MainMenu every time. It does everything I am looking for and makes each task very accessible. The version checking can be slightly annoying, but overall this is the best app in it's class.
MainMenu is a great application, and by far the most safe and easier to use of all mantainance apps. I doubt if the latest version is already leopard compatible (the homepage states that it's compatible with Mac OSX 10.4.10).
While Mainmenu is no Cocktail, it's certainly worth trying. What I like most is that it's easily accessed by the menubar. :)
very nice app!

I like the app. I didn't have a problem with http:// although I didn't try https://
This app is perfect for what it does.
