Great app, with new cool features and great performance, now you can save CPU usage, record with your buit-in isight or another dv camara, The best choise for record screencasts, and cheaper too.

Stomp is a really great tool to have around. I often prefer to open it then Compressor when working on Final Cut projects.

Re web-video, what do you mean? iShowU just records whatever is happening on screen (OpenGL or not), so it should get it.

It does NOT, nor any other app I have tried,
free or EXPENSIVE. Record your screen playing web video
and you get a blank there afterwards.
For example, Flash-video.

And what is this [ see bellow ] supposed to be Thiffany?

(if you ask, this is a capture from a little web-video website called youtube)

How does this compare to Snapz Pro X? Obviously, iShowU has the benefit of being cheaper, but I want to start using the G5's at school to capture game footage (being run from my laptop in target mode.)

That's another issue I have... I can't actually install this on the main machine. Will I be able to run it from my laptop once it's in target mode? Can someone confirm this for me? (Install iShowU or Snapz Pro X on an external drive/target-mode-enabled-Mac and then capture from the host computer? Thanks in advance for any tips.)

I just tried to capture a realvideo stream and it worked. The video quality depends on the codec and the cpu power you have though.

Well, I tried this and SnapPro-whatever
to capture iFilm videos and all I get is the 1st frame
and then WHITE even though it SEEMS like it is working
while it is << capturing. >>
Maybe MY mistake, I dunno.

PLUS, to capture YouTube
it is way easier to download the file
from Safari's Activity Window
and use iSquint to convert.

I really don't understand your problem thiffany. iShowU captures everything you want (and SnapzPro does as well)..

I've been using iShowU on my Intel iMac for several months and the developer has been very receptive and prompt in dealing with support issues. It's recorded anything I've thrown at it.

Sorry but if I understood my problem, too,
it would NOT be happening.
But it just does. So apologies to you lucky guys.
If you have suggestions as to what is happening...?
Have you tried these with an iFilm video...?

I can't tell you what's wrong with iShow but I just recorded an iFilm movie with SnapzPro, so it can be done.

extremely resource-hungry, when I tested it a little while ago... but effective.

It makes me wonder if there isn't something faster out there (as in, I can't help but feel there should be).

the best, reasonably priced screen capture app i've seen to date. i've been on a long hunt for a good one, and ishowu has been the only one that's been able to deliver on all levels. highly recommended.

The problem with this app is it encodes video on the fly, this means that while recording your computer is slightly slower and worse, the actual recording has a slow frame rate. On a 2ghz macbook I could not get a solid 30fps even on the lowest setting, best I could get was 8-10fps.

In contrast SnapzPro managed a silky smooth 30fps, it does this because it does the encoding after the recording is done. It's a shame because IshowU has the best interface and is much easier to use, if only it produced the same results as Snapz.

Great application. I use it for creating screencasts for my clients' webapps.
