Comments and replies on Yummy FTP:
By far the best FTP client I have ever come across. Couldn't ask for more. Kudos to the devs!
I have tried every FTP/SFTP client available for OS X (after switching from the PC to Mac), and I consider Yummy FTP the very best of the bunch, with Transmit not too far behind but nevertheless behind.
Latest version is a nice update - the best just got better. Guess someone/some company is getting worried by this app, though - funny how all the comments for it have recently been marked down to a minus score!
I'm currently using this to see if it can beat my current and long-time fave, Transmit. The interfaces seem identical, though Transmit is a bit cleaner and prettier. I'm liking the YummyFTP's concentration on editing as well...
after 5 months of using Mac i bought Transmit, but currently because of some nasty folder refreshing bug in it i tried this app and i'm buing it - it works faster and is more flexible to my needs...
I was a staunch fan of the free Cyberduck, until this came along.
For those of you who are switchers, this is as useful as wsftp for windows, but os x style.
Two directory windows, full resume, full sftp, keychain storage of passwords, etc.
It's a must have.
I tried as many clients as I could get my hands on. Transmit, Cyberduck, etc. but Yummy was the best of the bunch in my opinion. I love the mirroring function and the speed it seems to have over the others. Great app and highly recommended.
Great if your connections are unstable. You can take up uploading again.
Great feature set. Seems more osx-like than transmit.
A great FTP client. More heavy-weight then Transmit or Interarchy, very stable and very easy to use. I love its integration with TextMate and other editors. Excellent user community and quick support are pluses, I highly recommended.
Sophisticated FTP client with all the features you could wish for. Highly recommended.
Great! Great! Great! Way better than Fetch or Cyberduck.
This is one of my "Can't Live Without" applications. It's the killer app that not even Windows fanboys can have! It is straight up, yummy!
Best FTP Client the Mac has to offer. Fast, reliable and not bad looking. Give it a try and you won't go back.
Great app.
But what's with the new icon?! Displaying a fake mouse pointer as part of an app's icon is such a bad idea.
I agree with mfichtner.
This app could need of a few extra bucks spent, hiring a designer so as to gain a higher visual overall level (including icon). I'm not saying it because I have a desire to sound negative, but this has been on my mind regarding this app, for a good while now. And because it's one of the most mysteriously unrecognized apps I can think of today, I find myself unable not letting it out.
A major reason behind the exorbitant hypeness of Transmit, as well as the large amount of people overlooking Yummy FTP, is due to the fact that the creators of Transmit devote great care to the necessity of visual delightfulness; an aspect that you simply cannot dodge in the competition between cutting edge Mac soft today. That's it. Icon is king. Along with a number of other details, of course. But the icon... Personally I'd argue that it's the single most important thing.
In comparison, Yummy FTP is a lot more trustworthy, a lot faster and simply has a lot more "roar" under the hood, than Transmit. Still, it lacks the looks of a real champion app. So, let's hear it for a substantial makeover.
January 8th 2008: Transmit, 3708 - Yummy FTP, 320.
I'll put everything I got, including two horrible cats and a lousy career on the bet that Yummy will be closing in by the end of the year, 31st of December 2008.
Though the icon is terrible, it's a great FTP app especially the seamless integration with textmate. I prefer it to Transmit, Cyberduck, and Flow.

Holy cow! Finally something that decompresses .sit files! HAZZAH! Stuffit is one of the worst apps I have ever encounted for the Mac. This works great! Kudos to the developers.
This stuff rocks.
This stuff kicks so much ass it's not even funny. Completely unobtrusive, almost invisible UI, behaves just exactly the way you expect, GREAT file format support... Seriously, what more could you want? This gem ought to be on every mac.

This little app has become one of my "must haves" Last.fm is an extremely nice service and I listen to the radio (whether it be tags or Similar Artists). The official Mac client is really clunky, and often problematic. iScrobbler is a very nice alternative. And since 2.x can now play radio stations in iTunes it is unnecessary to even have the official client around on my Mac.
Thanks Damaged for your hard work!
