Exactly the lightweight solution that prevents a torrent download from giving me the Azureus nightmare.

I think it should really create the files at their full size when downloads start, though. I saw some files being destroyed when a disk ran full because of that when I tried an eaerlier version. So: nice if you are sure your hard drive won't run full.

The latest nightlies have selective file downloading. Works really really well. This at least now is the hands down best torrent client for mac imho. Great work team!!

Is this, or Azureus better?

i tried azureus and xtorrent before this gem.
simple, easy, small, no crap you don't need like azureus, and no "buy this now." i'm stoked i found this app.

@ian_groh: It depends. Azureus has more features, but requires more resources. Eg Azureus supports transfer encryption. This is a feature that requires lots more CPU resources, but can result in faster transfers.
I use Transmission when I do work at the same time and I use Azureus when something downloads while I sleep.

I was an happy user of Transmission, and hoped for a while for the 0.8 version.
But I'm sorry to say, it's a failure : it always bug and crash, and I must restart my mac to use it after having done any little change.
Perhaps they will soon offer a 0.8.1 with bug fix ?

Now that the latest version has downloading of individual files this is the perfect bittorrent client on the mac. I find it much faster than Azureus for downloading. It uses less resources and is much more intuitive to use. Great work!

I was excited to hear that a Mac version of uTorrent was in the works, but now that Transmission can do selective file downloading, it really doesn't matter much. Transmission is, in my opinion, the best bittorrent client for any platform, with its clean, unbloated interface.

it is a very sleek client, however it doesn't support encrypted transfers, which mean that seeding at very important trackers such as oink is no possible. very nice client, but it does lack important functionalities. easier and more pleasant than azureus, utorrent is still however the best by far (damn it!)

buggy! has crashed already three times.

The new version has eliminated any need for any other torrent clients on my mac.

Beautiful app! Clean and speedy! Just the way that mac'ers love! It has few features but I think it's designed for quick downloads from open torrents! I use this!

I just upload the new 0.81 version of the software, and there's no problem any more.
Furthermore, my speed is better than with the earlier.

It's pretty much replaced Azureus for me now. I really liked Azureus 2.x, but the newer versions aren't much to my liking. 0.82 is really good stuff.

I was definitely skeptical about making the change from Azureus--with its feature-galore repertoires. However, implementing PeerGuardian with Transmission..its safe to say I will be removing Azureus from my machine ;)

Only gripes I have is I wish there would be a Filter for showing "Currently Active" Transfers..and not just ones that are "Seeded". Also, a prompt of what files to select from a torrent a la Azureus would be nice, instead of adding it, then using the Inspector to uncheck what you don't want.

I am new to the whole Mac world. I was looking for a good downloading software and I found Transmission. But there is a problem. I don't know how to use it. How to search for files and download. Please some one helps me and explain how should I start to use it.
