Great for web development and gimmicks, but for day-to-day browsing Safari is faster and integrates with the Apple Keychain.

Firefox 3 is an entirely different beast from Firefox 2 on OS X. By that, I mean its actually a usable browser. Not only is it usable, but it works great. I use it more than I do Safari.

I LOVE Firefox 3!! I was nervous about upgrading (why mess up something that's already perfect?) but it's definitely better than 2.0. It makes me want to surf the internet more! A couple particular things I love: that it asks if you want to save a password in a way that allows you to choose to save it only after you have seen that it WORKED. The fact that it has smart bookmark folders. The new address bar that shows me what address I might be typing with so much more than just the URL. Oh, and I seem to be one of the very few, but I LOVE the way it looks, no theme needed! (Except Styles to add favicons to the bookmark toolbar). LOVE IT!

For those looking for an extension that allows to drag a file into the attachment/upload box itself (eg: in gmail), there's dragdropupload.

Also works for multiple files, and: in Gmail only, you can also drag files onto the "Attach a file" link itself,
and they will be entered into the attachment boxes.

More info here.

I really like Firefox 3.

That said, I think it lacks some of the the neat integration that most OS X apps have. Makes a good backup browser for sure.

For me, Firefox add-ons don't outweigh the fact that it doesn't use the OS X context menu. I have several dozen commands set up in OnMyCommand that I regularly use while browsing in Safari (and which I can use in just about any native mac app.). I could probably find Firefox add-ons that duplicate most of that functionality, but I can't be bothered. Until they integrate it properly into OS X, I'll stick with Safari.

PLEASE include that it's for Leopard only, when posting entries. It really saves time for those who are still using Tiger.

with leopard, it can now officially be classified as an app. I also think it's a bit excessive. Maybe if there was actually a download link?

LOVE IT. Thoughtless backup at it's best. Go out and by a HUGE external drive and don't let this priceless app go to waste.

And the interface is NOT over the top as some say. I ask "who DOESN'T love the idea of time travel"?!?

My hard drive failed a week ago and I just got my notebook back from a technician. I installed Leopard and when it asked me if I wanted to transfer files I selected "Time Machine backup," plugged in my external hard drive, and 30 minutes later it was like I never left my computer.

Time Machine restored the files, apps, preferences, system preferences, everything. It was seamless.

Kinda love it. Macbook stopped booting due to some serious file system errors. Diskwarrior wouldn't bring it back to life. Luckily, I had just got my TimeMachine harddrive working again (an OWC Mercury mirrored RAID external drive that might actually be failing itself) and had a recent TM backup. Just in case, I made an image of the current failing volume. After numerous attempts. The only thing that worked was wiping the drive, re-installing an InstaDMG-created image, and using migration assistant w/ the TM harddrive. This restored what I had space to save (Applications, home dir, preferences, etc..) and from the other image (which had everything but was unbootable) I was able to recover my games, music, and other things I kept in /Users/Shared.
