I've come to like this app really fast.
I've just started college and it's a very spiffy way to keep track of my notebooks, instead of lugging around dead trees ;p
And I agree with mostly everyone, its lack of "bloatware" is its best feature.
I'm not sure if I need this - but I love it so much I just want it!
My idea of heaven would be the conjoining of Mémoires and iBlog :)
In fact, darn-it, I'm just gonna use Mémoires as my daily note-taking tool and when I'm ready to blog anything from it - I'll simply export the entry/entries as an rtf file and paste straight into iBlog - brilliant :)
This is very nice and simple. Worth every penny.

Great little app that eliminates the need to open up a terminal window and type commands to check the hash values of downloaded files from the net. Freeware!
Comment and replies on Docx Converter:
Don't expect much out of this tool, it can only convert text and tables don't even render. But it is a useful tool nonetheless for pure text document conversion, which is enough for pretty much most of the average user base. I use this for those pesky small .docx files that you just need to read through quickly.
FYI the current release of NeoOffice reads OpenXML files from Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
I use the free converter from Microsoft. It seems to work fine and doesn't need to be a gadget or anything. Just double-click the docx and it converted and opens up in Word (or presumably whichever program you might have set for DOC format files) automatically. --> see Microsoft Open XML Converter.

Light and simple. And it's free.

I think here's the changelog for the Beta4. It also reveals who the submitter of the beta fixes are.

Mad propz to Florent Bruneau for contributing to the changes for beta 5:
http://virtuedesktops.info/index.php/2007/06/13/virtuedesktops-054-beta-5/
"Changes
* Fixes to localisation;
* Miscellaneous fixes for stability;"
VirtueDesktops is not being actively developed again, and Florent has certainly not made any promises to continue contributing - he's making fixes as he can. If you are a heavy user of VirtueDesktops, you should upgrade to the latest betas and see how you go - they are much stabler, and have much more consistent behaviour.
Mad props, indeed :)
Well, thanks Florent :-)
Check your log files!
Last night I noticed that my library was over 9 gigs, while another user's was about 250 MB. After about twenty minutes of searching, I found the VirtueDesktops log. You're probably thinking, "It's a log file- how big can that possibly be?" I'll tell you: 8.24 gigs! I tried to open it in Console, but the system immediately bogged down and I had to force-quit Console. Then I opened it in Firefox, and that worked. However, after a few minutes, there was still text loading! This file is huge! So, I used AppDelete to get rid of the program and all its affiliates, and I lived happily ever after (so far). Maybe this was an isolated incident, but I recommend you check.
Oh yeah, it's located in /Users/[user]/Library/Logs/
Note VMWare 1.1RC has fixed the fullscreen bug it had with Virtue, it is working great together now! :-)
Being a long time Linux user I wouldn't be able to live without my virtual desktops, and VirtueDesktops saved me, thanks!

Works great with your garden variety subtitled .MKVs cluttered all around the web! Much better than VLC in this aspect, IMHO. Watched a complete season each of DVDs and .MKVs worth on this app and saw its usefulness, though it IS a bit pricey. And I don't like how far it jumps back and forth through the timeline when using the shortcut keys...
...but I still use it.
the most functional and "mac" app for playing movies at the time

A calendar, an empty space, and your thoughts. Effortlessly functional and cleanly designed. Rather than divert your attention to labels, colors, and a myriad of buttons and options, Mémoires' simplicity lets you type everything... down to the last detail.
Essential software to keep things humming along... :)
