Taking pictures of your screen with Grab
You can use the Grab application to take a picture of all or part of your computer screen. These pictures are often called "screen shots" or "screen captures."
Open Grab (located in /Applications/Utilities) and choose a command from the Capture menu.
Selection takes a picture of a part of the screen that you select.Window takes a picture of a window you select.
Screen takes a picture of the entire screen.
Timed Screen lets you start a timer and activate part of the screen (such as a menu), and then takes a picture of the screen.
Follow the instructions in the dialog for the command you chose.
To see information about a screen shot you've taken, such as the size and depth, choose Edit > Inspector.To save a screen shot, choose File > Save. Grab saves screen shots as files in TIFF format. The Periodic Table

Display the joys of chemistry for all to see on your Dashboard!
This was my first widget, and it's a simple periodic table where you can click on the elements to display basic information: Symbol, Name, Atomic Number, Mass, and Phase under standard conditions. Double-clicking on an element will open a link to that element's wikipedia page for additional information. Now up to version 1.4, I've added the ability to select different elemental properties, and the table will remap the colors around these property values. This allows people to observe some basic periodic trends. The user preferences are also stored now, so the widget will always restart with the user's preferred style.
Note that the atomic masses are those accepted by IUPAC. The other properties were obtained primarily from wikipedia and from other web sources (such as a periodic table web resource at MIT) when the wikipedia info. was insufficient or questionable. There appear to be conflicting values for properties such as Atomic Radius, so be aware that these other properties don't have the IUPAC stamp on them.

Version 1.4 has a font pull down menu on the back. If you would like to add your own font, you need to edit the .js file in the widget package. If you need help or instructions on how to do this, send me email.

Tofu is a little application to make reading text easier. It reformats text into narrow columns, like in newpapers, so your eye can follow the lines easier. You can jump to any point in your text by simply typing some letters near it (without choosing any command first). There's a system-wide Service so you can, for example, grab some text from a web page. And it lets you use your voice to navigate text, so you can literally sit back and read.
