    How does it work?

    Fluid itself is a very small application. When launched, Fluid displays a small window where you specify the URL of a webapp you'd like to run in a Site Specific Browser. Provide an application name, click 'Create' and you'll be prompted to launch the new native Mac app you've just created.

    Use Fluid to run YouTube, GTalk, Flickr, Basecamp, Delicious, .Mac webmail, or any other webapp as a separate Mac desktop application.

    Anytime you click a link to another site in an SSB, the link is opened in your system default web browser, keeping your SSB dedicated to the original site you've specified.

    GarageBand is a software application that allows users to create a piece of music. It is developed by Apple Computer for Mac OS X.
    The application is not aimed at professional musicians, but it is intended to help amateurs produce music easily. The application comes with 1,000 pre-recorded sampled loops, and 50 sampled or synthesized instruments which can be played using a MIDI keyboard connected to the computer, or using an on-screen keyboard.

Now you will no longer have to hunt through your system to find these items and delete them manually. Or worse, just let them sit on your Mac forever even though the application is long gone!

    To run AppDelete just drag the application or folder containing the application you want to delete onto the AppDelete icon. You can also select from the main menu, right-click an item in the Finder using the AppDelete Automator workflow, or just drop an app in the Trash. An easy way is to keep AppDelete in your dock so you can drag your app or folder containing the app onto the icon in your dock. After doing this AppDelete will search your system to find the associated items. After clicking on "Delete" these items will be moved inside of a folder in the trash named "AppDelete" with the name of the app you dragged onto the icon. You can inspect this folder if you like before emptying the trash.

    AppDelete also has a "Undo" feature, the ability to "Log only" for reference, it can search for invisible or "hidden" items, and more! And AppDelete keeps a log of all processing that it does.

    This is a program that (surprise!) generates barcodes.     Barcodes can also be exported as TIFF, EPS or PDF files.

It displays the Red/Green/Blue (RGB) values and the HTML/CSS to be inserted into your web page. It allows you to pick from the 4 possible ways of specifying the color in the CSS Spec.

    You can use the Grab application to take a picture of all or part of your computer screen. These pictures are often called "screen shots" or "screen captures."

    Open Grab (located in /Applications/Utilities) and choose a command from the Capture menu.
    Selection takes a picture of a part of the screen that you select.

    Window takes a picture of a window you select.

    Screen takes a picture of the entire screen.

    Timed Screen lets you start a timer and activate part of the screen (such as a menu), and then takes a picture of the screen.

    Follow the instructions in the dialog for the command you chose.
    To see information about a screen shot you've taken, such as the size and depth, choose Edit > Inspector.

    To save a screen shot, choose File > Save. Grab saves screen shots as files in TIFF format. You can use the Preview application to view these files and export them to other formats, such as JPEG.

    PixelStick is a tool for measuring distances, angles and colors on the screen. PhotoShop has distance, angle and color tools but they only work in PhotoShop. PixelStick works in any app and anywhere on screen anytime and costs a hundred times less. Excellent for designers or anyone who wants to measure a distance on their screen in any window or application.

    PixelStick is a measuring tool you can pinch and stretch to measure anything on your screen. Use the eyedropper to copy colors in 4 formats (CSS, RGB, RGB hex, HTML) to the clipboard for use in any app.

    Its like an onscreen virtual ruler that you can use vertically, horizontally and at any angle to measure distances, angles and much more just by dragging.

    Most of what PixelStick does is obvious. Drag the endpoints to change the measurement. Click the locks to constrain the movement. Launch it, play around, no more limitations to just one app in measuring distance, angle and color.

    PixelStick is a measuring tool you can pinch and stretch to measure anything on your screen.

    Use

    PixelStick is totally intuitive and works exactly like what you would hope for. PixelStick sits in the frontmost position on the screen. Drag the endpoints to change the measurement. Click the locks to constrain the movement. Drag to change the angle. See the changes and info in the small on screen info panel.

    Coordinate System

    PixelStick uses a Cartesian coordinate system like the OS X coordinate system. This means that the origin (pixel 0,0) is at the lower left corner of the screen. However, OS X deals mainly in points, whereas PixelStick is all about pixels. A point has no width and resides between pixels.

    Distances

    PixelStick reports both pixel distance and pixel difference.

    The pixel distance includes the width of the PixelStick endpoints. This is so that the actual size of the item being measured is reported. The pixel difference merely subtracts the coordinates.

    In the illustration below, the height of the picture is 13 pixels, so the distance is reported as 13.00. Note that if the diamond endpoint is at a position of y = 1, then the circle endpoint is at a position of y = 13. Thus pixel difference is 13 - 1 = 12.

  • Quicksilver

    Quicksilver is a unified, extensible interface for working with applications, contacts, music, and other data.
    Anyone using a computer (and the Macintosh is no exception) spends a lot of time locating files and applications, and then carrying out actions on those items. The Finder is a reasonably good tool for getting a visual overview of the contents of your disk, but it isn't ideal for quickly locating and manipulating files, especially if you have a deep and complicated folder structure, or if you prefer keyboard navigation to using the mouse.

    Quicksilver allows you to find what you need quickly and easily, while keeping your hands on the keyboard. For example, if you want to launch an application hidden in the depths of your file system, simply activate Quicksilver with a keystroke, type a few letters of the application's name, then hit Return or Enter to launch it. When you don't need Quicksilver, it keeps out of your way, preserving precious screen real estate, and yet you can summon it instantly with a key stroke - just like Mercury the winged messenger. Actually, Roman mythological texts are remarkably silent on whether Mercury could be summoned with a key stroke, but it would have been great if he could. Quicksilver will certainly make you feel as if you have god-like powers.

    Quinn is an arcade-style tetromino puzzle game written and designed specifically for Mac OS X.   • Safari

    Before Safari, browsers were an afterthought. Something you put up with if you wanted to surf the internet. One browser looked and felt just like another, so you chose the one that worked the best and crashed the least. They were ugly, cluttered affairs, whose interfaces competed for your attention and made browsing — the very purpose for which they were created — more difficult. Safari changes all that.

    Safari is designed to emphasize the browsing, not the browser. The browser frame is a single pixel wide. You see a scroll bar only when needed. By default, there’s no status bar. Instead, a progress gear turns as your page loads. And if you so choose, you can hide almost the entire interface, removing virtually every distraction from the browser window. A great browser should get out of your way and let you simply enjoy the web. Safari does just that. And it does it regardless of platform.

    The first browser to deliver the “real” internet to a mobile device, Safari renders pages on iPhone and iPod touch just as you see them on your computer. But this is more than just a scaled down mobile-version of the original. It takes advantage of the technologies built into these multi-touch devices. The page shifts and reformats to fill the window when you turn it on its side. You zoom in just by pinching and extending your fingers. Of course, no matter how you access it, Safari is always blazing fast and easy-to-use.

    All I wanted was a program that took a text file and saved it to an audio file for my iPod. All I could find were programs I had to pay for to do this simple task that can be accomplished in one line of AppleScript. That’s silly. So, I wrote a very simple program to do this and more.

    More? It can optionally (as of 1.1) tell iTunes to import and convert the file into its own playlist, letting you set the author and genre. It’s also a very simple plain-text editor as well. No more waiting for BBEdit to kick up or worrying that Text Edit will save an RTF file instead.

    As of 1.2, you can also change the rate and pitch of the speech as it’s saved (does not affect playback in the GUI).

    VLC (initially VideoLAN Client) is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats, including MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, MP3, and OGG, as well as for DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It also can be used as a server for unicast or multicast streams in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network. The most prominent additions to version 0.8.6 are probably Windows Media Video 9 and Flash Video. Other important changes are improved H.264 decoding, better Windows Unicode support, and a full-screen.
