Das Arcade Widget entsprang einer einfachen Idee: Wenn in Widgets alle Möglichkeiten eines Webbrowsers zur Verfügung stehen, dann müsste man auch Flash einbinden dürfen. Da ich klassische Videospiele mag, suchte ich nach einer Möglichkeit, eine Mini-Spielhalle für den kleinen Zeitvertreib ins Mac Dashboard zu bringen. Ich habe dann zwei wundervolle Flash Games von Neave.com verwendet, die im Quellcode zur freien Verwendung vorliegen und sie in mein Widget eingebunden (man kann die Spiele übrigens auch auf diesen Webseiten [Bereich: Intern] spielen). Der Witz ist, dass auf der Rückseite des Widgets, wo normalerweise Einstellungen vorgenommen werden, das zweite Spiel liegt. Version 0.9 hat noch das Problem, dass Mausklicks nicht optimal an das Flashgame durchgeleitet werden, sodass man mehrfach auf den Startbutton drücken muss. Danach funktioniert alles Weitere wie gewünscht, da über Tastatur gespielt wird.

Cooliris (formerly PicLens) places a slick button on the right hand side of the toolbar. Pressing the button on a CoolIris-enabled site (e.g. Flickr, Yahoo!, Google, PhotoBucket) displays all the photos it can find on a virtual wall. Trackpad or mouse gestures slide the wall left and right, and zoom in and out.
You can also search a handful of sites from within the CoolIris interface, or select from sets of predefined images — news, sports, entertainment, and more.
