App Update
App Update scans directories you specify for share- and freeware applications and looks for updates at Apple.com, MacUpdate and VersionTracker. It will produce a tidy list of updates with links to the download pages. App Update comes with plenty of features such as Growl support, ability to manage application versioning data, support for preference panes, quicktime plugins and frameworks, and more. It also has a built-in help function that you can access at any time by pressing "Shift+H".

BurnAgain DVD
BurnAgain DVD lets you use your CDs almost like a harddisk. BurnAgain DVD simply adds files to CDR, CDRW and DVDRWs several times without creating multiple volumes and without erasing. If you burn items twice, BurnAgain will automatically analyze the differences and burn only new or changed files overwriting the previous versions if required.
You can change the title of your disk at each burn, BurnAgain DVD preserves HFS file attributes and still burns media in a format that is readable on Linux and Windows.

BurnAgain FS
BurnAgain FS lets you change the content of your recordable media using the Finder. With BurnAgain FS you can mount your data CD or DVD like a harddisk volume and add files, remove files, even edit and change files. Then simply click "close" to burn your changes to the media.
You can do this multiple times with CDR, CDRW, DVD+RW and DVD-RW, without erasing, until the disk is full.
And you can even change the title of your disk prior to each burn.Disks burned with BurnAgain FS are readable without additional software on all platforms. BurnAgain FS automatically preserves your special Mac file attributes (resource forks) as well.
BurnAgain FS requires 10.5 or later and an Apple supported cd/dvd writer.

VLC
VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.
It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.
It doesn't need any external codec or program to work.
